Day one (Saturday)

Well, we got up early this morning to start our first day of our new adventure. Wow is this place cool...actually windy & cool! The sky was clear and the temp's were nice. We started out our day with Teresa getting up early & running her normal 5.5 miles, while us "normal" people got up to get ready to begin our trek through the wonderful city of Yokahama.

Curtis is quite the tour guide. He got our train & bus tickets, conversing with the locals here like he knew them. We were amazed. He & Deana speak Japanese pretty well, and can understand them too. Little Avery does pretty well for herself also!!!

Anyhow, we walked 5 miles total today and saw so many great places. We started out seeing a temple ...a lot of hiistory there. Then to some stores, shops, bus rides & general sightseeing. Mount Fuji was visible early in the day, but disappeared as the day grew longer. (I don't know where it went). I took 200 pictures, so maybe I'll set up a Photobucket & post them all there one day.

We ate lunch at a real nice place. The closest to Tennessee food I could find was French Fries. They tasted just like ours. We had fried pork (they love pork over here) & some kind of soup with clam shells in the bottom. I won't be bringing any of that home!!! It was all good.

We walked to another part of town & came up on a carnival. They had the biggest ferris wheel I have ever seen. We all rode it and the view was spectacular. After that, Austin & I rode a roller coaster that went into a hole into the middle of a pool. It was quite exciting. Teresa & Austin rode (for our Nashville folks who remember Opryland) the Flume Zoom . We walked to a giant indoor flea market (Pat, I got you a mini- clock). We walked to Avery's school also.
After we got home, our charming hostess made us a traditional Japanese dinner. For all pracitcal purposed, I'll call it Spagetti with onions & Asian sauce. (there's a name for it but I won't attempt it). It was good though.

Tommorow we'll go to church, then to a major league baseball game, and a trip through famous "China Town" & more...so stay tuned!!!
Gosh we saw so much & did so much our first day, it would be impossible to explain it all on this blog, but here's a few pic's.
